Gas Cooktop
Installation Check
Do you need to verify a cooktop was installed properly? Review the lists below for items we recommend you check.
Proper Installation Space?
The unit is designed to be installed in a countertop cutout. Do not use any caulking, or sealant, the unit must be removable for service. Space between the cooktop and any oven or drawer beneath it should be 2 ¾”. Make sure the surrounding areas of the cooktop, counter cabinets, can withstand temperatures up to 93°C (200F°)
Proper Access to Power?
Ensure the power outlet is supplying 120Vac +/- 10% to the cooktop and is on a dedicated 15Amp Circuit. The outlet should be approximately 12” below the countertop.
Proper Gas Supply?
Ensure there is a proper gas shutoff valve installed and that a flexible gas supply line is used to connect the cooktop to the gas supply. Gas line must have an inner diameter of 5/8” and must be a maximum of 3 feet in length.
Proper Gas Pressure?
The LG gas oven range is shipped being set for Natural Gas and the gas pressure for NA should be between 5” and 13” of water column. For LP the pressure should be between 10” and 13” of water column.
- Ensure all shipping material has been removed from the unit.
- Verify that the unit is free from dents/scratches/other cosmetic imperfections.
- Ensure the gas line is properly installed and leak free at the range and supply connections. Make sure the gas is turned on at the home shutoff valve. Reminder: If the customer is using LP instead of natural gas, an LP Conversion must take place before using the range.
- Ensure the unit is properly plugged into the 120Vac outlet. It is not recommended to use a power strip or add other appliances to the outlet.
- Make sure the cooktop is properly secured in the cabinet. The retainer brackets and bolts must be installed to meet local codes.
- Make sure the unit is powered on. Display should be functional if equipped, If no display, make sure the burners ignite properly.
- Do the cooktop burners all ignite? Turn on all cooktop burners and verify that they do ignite before leaving the home.
- Do the cooktop flames look uniform and correct color? (If the flames are incorrect color, it could be due to humidity in the home or could indicate an issue with gas pressure or incorrect conversion if the unit was converted to LP. If the flames are too large or small, adjustment may be required.
